September 8th marks the launch of the widely anticipated .ski domain. From this day, all members of ski and snow sports community can finally purchase a domain that signifies what they are passionate about. Already over 800 ski resorts, brands, associations and athletes have signed up for the coveted .ski domain during its limited registration period.
.Ski is part of a new Internet expansion that brings along with it new opportunities and innovation to the internet. It acts as an instant identifier and offers an alternative to .com. The launch of .ski will mean that businesses, brands, athletes and enthusiasts can get short and memorable names that are industry specific. Many athletes have identified the value a .ski can bring to their image with Emily Sarsfield, Britain’s top female ski cross skier, opting to use emilysasrsfield.ski. Emily plans to use her new web address to promote herself and her sponsors.
‘The .ski domain is perfect for me as it instantly identifies with my sport and what I do – it feels great to be part of something like this right at the start.’
.Ski is supported by many global snow sports community organizations, including the International Ski Federation (FIS), and will be available to the general public on a first come, first served basis beginning on September 8th. It will be widely available through domain name registration companies such as GoDaddy, name.com and 101domain.com. You can pre-register now with certain registrars, a ful list of all our registrars can be found here.
